* All EMS students are given a student planner, and are expected to fill it out each day during all core classes.
* I put up a copy of my planner which shows homework assignments and content covered in class each day and read over it with students. I give students time to write their assignments down in their own planner, and they are rewarded periodically for keeping their planner up to date.
* Your child should have no more than about 10-20 minutes of homework per subject each night. Homework in my class is usually only the work that was not finished by your child in class that day. I usually do not collect assignments the same day they are given to allow students time to bring their work home and check over it, before it is graded the following day.
* A good routine to set for middle school students is to have them read over their planner each evening, and show you the work that is completed and due the following day. Many times when this is done with an adult, they can catch errors or problems which were overlooked.
* I will do my best to alert students a week in advance for upcoming tests, however quizzes over material may be given at any time. Looking over notes each night is encouraged.
* If your child is experiencing a significant amount of homework, they may not be using their class time effectively, or we may need to set up a meeting to discuss some other interventions.
Homework will be posted daily on Google Classroom. Students will set up their Google classroom accounts the first week of school, but can also access this information by clicking on the link below:
